During the 110th IEEE Region 8 Committee meeting on 10-11 March 2018, in Athens, the IEEE Greece Section, chaired by Nectarios Koziris who is also Dean of the School of ECE at the NTUA, received the “2017 Region 8 Outstanding Large Section Award” for delivering excellent services to its members.

It is worth mentioning that the Region 8 Outstanding Section Award was established with the goal of recognizing excellent performance by Region 8 Sections. The Large Section award requires 1,501 or more active members (including Students) in the section and rewards outstanding success in fulfilling the section goals – in accordance with IEEE policy – by organizing technical, professional and geographic activities for the benefit of its members and by maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branches, Chapters, and Affinity Groups within its geographic boundaries.
