ECE-NTUA Team Wins 14th Place in the Global Ranking in CSAW '23
Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW) is the world's largest student-run cyber security event, featuring international competitions, workshops, and industry events.
CSAW '23 Finals took place on 8-11 November simultaneously in five regions (India, MENA, Europe, US-CAN, Mexico) and hosted nine cybersecurity educational competitions:
- AI Hardware Attack Challenge
- Applied Research
- BioHack3D
- Capture the Flag
- Embedded Security
- Hack3D
- Hack My Robot
- LLM Attack Challenge
- Logic Locking
A team consisted of four undergraduate ECE-NTUA students and coordinators of the Ethical Hacking group of the Computer Society Chapter at IEEE NTUA Student Branch: Michail Evangelou, Apostolos Chatzianagnostou, Chronis Sapountzakis, and Thanasis Konstantopoulos, secured the 4th Place in Europe Ranking and the 15th Place in Global Ranking at the Capture the Flag competition.
Moreover, the same team with the addition of ECE-NTUA student Stylianos Anastasiou, managed to secure a position for the Finals at DefCamp 2023 conference in Bucharest, Romania on 23-24 November 2023 and placed 14th in the Global Ranking.
DefCamp started back in 2011 as a small infosec gathering among friends. Soon, the meetup became an event and, later on, the largest and most important cybersecurity and hacking conference from Central and Eastern Europe. In 2022, DefCamp returned onsite, in Bucharest, and brought together more than 1,600 participants from over 30 countries.
