World-class Recognition for 4 Students of the ECE School
The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is thrilled to announce that a team of four competent students has achieved a remarkable victory at the prestigious CSAW'24 cybersecurity conference held at NYU in New York.
The team, "Greeks for Geeks," comprised of Georgios Karapidakis, Christos Madamopoulos, Nikolaos Moraitis, and Stasinos Daveas, secured first place in the global Hack3D competition. This challenging competition focuses on identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities in the design and additive manufacturing (3D printing) of objects.
These vulnerabilities, often undetectable by traditional cybersecurity methods, can lead to serious consequences, including the production of counterfeit parts for critical applications such as aircraft and other essential machinery.
The "Greeks for Geeks" team outperformed strong competition from renowned institutions such as Columbia University (USA) and the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (India) to claim the top spot.
The ECE School and ICCS extend their warmest congratulations to our outstanding students and their families. We wish them continued success and even greater achievements in their future endeavors.
