PhD Studentships at Aarhus University, Denmark

Several PhD Student positions are to open within the Data-Intensive Systems Group at Aarhus University’s Computer Science Department — ranked in Europe’s top 25 (http://cs.au.dk/).

The research area is in the broad field of representing, exploiting, mining, and searching in graph data, with a grounding on solid theoretical foundations; applications include the control of information diffusion in networks, the learning of latent graph representations to be used in lieu of the graph in data mining and structure-aware tasks, and the discovery of geo-social communities.

Studies are to commence in the academic year 2017-18.

Candidates will be characterized by the following qualifications:

  • Strong background in computer science and mathematics.
  • Knowledge and interest in data mining, data engineering, and machine learning.
  • Excellent programming skills.
  • Self-motivation, maturity, attention to detail, social and organizational skills.
  • Stability, durability, and persistence.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
