24 active Professors of ECE-NTUA among the top 2% of highly cited scientists in the world


The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens has delivered a notable performance in the Stanford/Elsevier rankings, which highlight the top 2% of the most influential scientists worldwide. In this year’s ranking, published last week, 24 active Professors affiliated currently with ECE-NTUA, earned a place on the lists; this represents 40% of the active faculty members in our School.

The names of the Professors in alphabetical order, are: Antonios Antonopoulos, Hercules Avramopoulos, Haris Doukas, George Fikioris, Dimitris Fotakis, Pavlos Georgilakis, Elias Glytsis, Evangelos Hristoforou, Antonios Kladas, George Korres, Petros Maragos, Vangelis Marinakis, Gregoris Mentzas, Konstantina Nikita, Athanasios Panagopoulos, Stavros Papathanassiou, Anthony Papavasiliou, Symeon Papavassiliou, John Psarras, Paul Sotiriadis, Constantinos Valagiannopoulos, Emmanouel Varvarigos, Theodora Varvarigou and Athanasios Voulodimos.

In addition to them, Professors Emeriti from ECE-NTUA —Nikos Hatziargyriou, Stefanos Kollias, S. N. Manias, F. V. Topalis, John L. Tsalamengas, Nikolaos Uzunoglu, Costas Vournas, the late Professor Spyros G. Tzafestas—as well as former and affiliated professors Foto N. Afrati, Timos Sellis, and researchers Ioannis Chremmos, Konstantinos Demestichas, Grigorios L. Kyriakopoulos (EDIP) and Alexandros Nikas are also included in the rankings.

This exceptional showing remarks our commitment to innovative research and reaffirms our status as the nationwide leader across the ECE field as well as a significant player internationally. Such an achievement highlights the talent and dedication of our faculty towards state-of-the-art research and efficient student mentoring.
