Historical review. Description of Control Systems by means of differential and recursive equations, transfer functions, impulse response, state equations for continuous and discrete time systems. Feedback, Sensitivity. Analysis of systems in the time domain. Steady State Errors. Disturbance Rejection. Definitions of various types of Stability. Algebraic stability criteria: Routh, Hurtwitz, Continuous Fractions. Nyquist criterion. Root locus. Bode and Nichols diagrams. State space Systems descritpion: Controllability and Observability, Canonical forms. Lyapunov’s stability criterion. Examples of control design. Associated Matlab Applications.
