Brief Biography


Iakovos Venieris is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) since 1994 and director of ICBNet. He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree from the NTUA in 1990, all in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests are in the fields of distributed systems, security and privacy, software and service engineering, agent technology, multimedia, mobile communications and intelligent networks, internetworking, signalling, resource scheduling and allocation for network management, modelling, performance evaluation, queuing theory. He has over 350 publications in the above areas and has received several national and international awards for academic achievement. He has participated in and has successfully led several national and international projects. He is a reviewer for several IEEE, ACM, Elsevier and Wiley journals and has served as associate editor of IEEE Communications Letters, editorial board member of Computer Communications (Elsevier) and guest editor for the IEEE Communications Magazine. He is a co-editor of the books Intelligent Broadband Networks (Wiley, 1998) and Object Oriented Software Technologies in Telecommunications (Wiley, 2000).
