Ioannis Delis

Assistant Professor   Division of Information Transmission Systems and Material Technology

Brief Biography

Ioannis (Yannis) Delis is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Data Processing and Analysis at the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. He previously served as an Associate Professor at the School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Leeds.

He holds a multidisciplinary academic background: a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering (University of Patras), an MSc in Signal Processing (University of Minnesota), and a PhD in Computational Neuroscience (University of Genoa). His research experience spans Cognitive Neuroscience (University of Glasgow) and Biomedical Engineering (Columbia University).

Dr. Delis’s research leverages data-driven approaches to model the neural mechanisms underlying sensory processing, decision-making, and motor coordination. He develops computational methods—drawing on machine learning, information theory, and network theory—for analyzing and modeling large-scale neurobiological and behavioral data. His work addresses fundamental questions about sensorimotor function in health and disease and informs the design of biologically inspired technologies.
