Brief Biography

Nickolas J. Theodorou was born on June 30, 1952 in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1975. He received the D.I.C. and Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College of Science and Technology of the University of London in 1978. From 1979 to 1981 he served his obligatory military service in the Greek Air Force Research and Development Center and continued to work there until 1985. His field of research there was missile guidance and control. At the same time, from 1984 to 1985, he was with the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Patras, Greece. He then joined the School of Electrical & Computers Engineering (ECE) of NTUA. as an Assistant Professor in 1985. He became Associate Professor in 1989 and Professor in 1992. From 1986 to 1988 he was a member of the Senate of NTUA. From 1999 to 2002 he was Director of the Industrial Electric Devices & Decision Systems Division of ECE. From 2004 to 2006 he was President of the ECE and at the same time member of the Senate of NTUA. His research interests are systems theory in general and, in particular, multidimensional systems theory, electric measurements and sensors. He has published nearly 100 scientific papers and books.
