International Competitions SEEMOUS 2017 and IMC 2017
SEEMOUS 2017
SEEMOUS (South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad for University Students) is an annual undergraduate mathematical competition. Students that have not completed their second year of undergraduate studies from Balkan countries, such us Romania, Greece, Bulgaria and often from Asian countries, such as Tajikistan, compete using their problem solving skills to tackle mathematical problems from the field of Calculus and Linear Algebra.
In the 11th edition of SEEMOUS that took place in Ohrid, FYR of Macedonia, between February 28 and March 5, a student delegation from the ECE has won three medals, including one Gold medal. Overall the team came in the 39th place. Specifically the winners are:
- Ntounis Petros (ECE) Gold medal
- Misiakos Panagiotis (ECE) Silver medal
- Milionis Iason (ECE) Bronze medal
IMC 2017
IMC (International Mathematics Competition for University Students) is a prestigious competition in which mathematical talented and oriented students from mathematical and technical universities from all over the world take part. Students are called to solve 10 problems (5 the first day and 5 the second one) from various mathematical fields as Algebra and Linear Algebra, Real and Complex Analysis, Number Theory and Combinatorics.
In this year's edition that took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, from the 31st of July to the 6th of August, students of the National Technical University of Athens won four medals, including one Silver medal. The winners are:
- Mouzakis Nikolaos (ECE) Silver medal
- Diamantidis Dimitrios (School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Science) Bronze medal
- Goumas Vasileios (ECE) Bronze medal
- Misiakos Panagiotis (ECE) Bronze medal
Congratulations to all of our students for their distinctions, which reflect the quality of the educational and research work done at NTUA. Also, thank you ECE student Anargyros Oikonomou for his participation in IMC 2017 and the effort he put into the competition.
