ECE-NTUA student won the R. Merwin Scholarship by the IEEE Computer Society and has been appointed as the Region 8 Student Ambassador

Katerina Michou, an undergraduate student at ECE-NTUA and the current Chair of Computer Society Student Chapter of the IEEE NTUA Student Branch has been honored with the prestigious R. Merwin Scholarship by the IEEE Computer Society. As a result of this esteemed recognition, Katerina has been appointed as the Region 8 Student Ambassador.

The R. Merwin scholarship aims to reward active student leaders within IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters who show promise in their academic and professional efforts. It is currently the largest scholarship offered by the IEEE Computer Society and one of the most prestigious recognitions available for students in the fields of electrical or computer engineering, and computer science who are active volunteers within the IEEE community.

The R. Merwin Scholarship acknowledges Katerina's exceptional work within the IEEE and stellar academic performance, and it is telling that she was the only awardee in Europe for the Spring 2023 round of applications.

As the Region 8 Student Ambassador, Katerina will play a pivotal role in representing our university and the greater Computer Society student community across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This ambassadorship provides a unique platform for our student chapter to engage with professionals, students, and industry leaders, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on an international scale.

"We believe that Katerina's success is not only an individual triumph but also a reflection of the supportive and innovative environment that NTUA cultivates. We are immensely proud to have Katerina as Chair of our Computer Society Student Chapter." said the Computer Society Student Chapter
