Description

The course consists of a narration of the evolution of scientific ideas in a way that reveals how, and to what extent, these ideas shaped the dominant philosophical trends of their time, from the antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century. No emphasis is placed on a detailed record of historical events; the focus is on the connection between the scientific ideas of each era and the views scientists entertain about the way the world is and the limits of the valid knowledge that strives to describe it.
