Description

Electrical and electronic materials in relation to the working environment: industrial, urban, marine, polluted and mixed. Testing methods from industry for the quality control of materials for electrical engineering applications: electrical contacts, dielectrics, cables, transformers, microelectronic devices and packaging. Non destructive and destructive methods for materials quality control: X – rays, Scanning Electron Microscope, Scanning Ion Microscopy, Quadruple Mass Analysis, Auger, Eddy currents. Environmental effects on: thin films, aging and fatigue of materials, UV radiation effects on polymers, environmental effects on the electronics function at interiors, accelerated aging. Case studies of failure of materials in industrial accidents, caused by low quality row materials and by improper functional conditions. Effects of micro and macro climate on electro technical materials, handling and toxic by-products.
