Anglos Amditis


Brief Biography

Dr. Angelos J. Amditis was born in Sydney of Australia in 1968.He has obtained his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in Greece in 1992 and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Telecommunications) from the same institution in 1997.In 1998 he joined the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of NTUA as an associate researcher. In the period 1999-2001 he became an assistant researcher at ICCS, in the period 2001-2004 he was a researcher at ICCS, in the period 2004-2009 he was a principal researcher at ICCS and since May 2009 he has reached the higher level, becoming a Research Director at ICCS (Researcher Grade A). He is also member of its Board of Directors. In January 2002 he has founded the I-SENSE Research group of ICCS. He has participated in more than 120 R&D projects in the last 17 years. Between others he is/has participating in several related H2020 and FP7 projects such as ASSURED, L3Pilot, interACT, INFRAMIX , AutoNet2030 (coordinator),RECONASS (coordinator),ROBOSPECT (coordinator), CARTRE,ITS-Observatory, AdaptIVe, INTE-TRANSIT (coordinator), SMART PORT, interactIVe, euroFOT, TELEFOT, PReVENT etc. He is currently the coordinator of the following projects: ELVITEN (newly accepted), IN-PREP (newly accepted), SAFERtec ( )PLUGGY ( ), SCENT ( ),NeMo ( ), FABRIC ( ), INACHUS ( ), RECONASS ( and SENSKIN ( ).

He is Vice President and one of the founding members of ITS Hellas ( ). He was one of the initiators of the EuroVR Association ( ) and he has also served as President from September 2010 till March 2016. He is representing ICCS at ERTICO-ITS Europe, where he is also a member of its Supervisory Board. He is participating to the C-ITS Platform, DTLF, GEAR2030, TM2.0 Platform (Steering Body member), Trilateral WG on Automation, euRobotics, SENSORIS, WssTP, ALICE (Steering Committee Member), UITP, EFFRA and many other EC Groups and Platforms. He is the writer of several peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters and more than 180 conference papers. His current research interests in the field of ITS include Automated Transport Systems, Cooperative Systems, Electromobility, Smart Mobility both for people and cargo (ITS for Logistics), cooperative systems, sensor and information fusion, data management/aggregation, communication technologies, highly and fully automated driving and embedded systems, vehicle to grid connectivity and charging optimization strategies, control algorithms, human machine interaction, and FOTs. He is also quite active on Internet related research (IoT, Cloud services etc.), ICT for environmental and security applications etc.
