DSML Graduation Ceremony 2024
On the 9th of October 2024, a special ceremony was held to honor the graduates of the year 2023 of the master's program "Data Science and Machine Learning (DMSL)", one of the most state-of-the-art master’s programs in the field.
The program is offered by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in collaboration with the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences (SAMPS), the School of Civil Engineering, and the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering (SRSE) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
The ceremony opened with a warm greeting extended to the graduates and their families by the Vice Rector of NTUA Prof. Panayiotis Psarrakos.
Prof. Emmanouil Varvarigos, Vice Rector of NTUA and instructor in DSML master’s program, congratulated the graduates, and commented on the ubiquitous applications of machine learning to all scientific fields and on the recent Nobel prizes in Physics and in Chemistry, which are directly related to Machine Learning and its applications.
Extending his congratulations to the graduates of DSML, the Dean of ECE Prof. Panayiotis Tsanakas highlighted their outstanding talent and qualifications. Subsequently, Prof. Nectarios Koziris, member of NTUA's Administrative Board, and Prof. Georgios Stamou, who were among the founders of DSML, extended their warm congratulations and best wishes to the graduates and described the motivation and the principles behind DSML.
The Director of DSML, Prof. Dimitris Fotakis emphasized the outstanding potential and qualifications of DSML students and graduates and the exceptional quality of the program, which attracts top-ranking graduates from all Greek Universities and provides education that successfully balances between fundamental theoretical knowledge and important applications of cutting-edge technologies.
Whereupon Prof. Panayiotis Psarrakos awarded the top graduate amongst his peers Mr. Spiridon Rigas (GPA 9.89).
